On November 12, a devastating earthquake hit the border region of the Middle Eastern nation of Iraq and Iran. The intensity of the earth quake is recorded to be nearly 7.3 in magnitude. The authorities have started to pursue a rescue mission in order to save the lives of the people that have been effected by this mammoth shock. With a massive loss of property, the event has also caused a severe loss of life in which, according to sources, almost 348people have died and a massive number of people have been buried under collapsed buildings. Furthermore, according to the state agency of Iran, concerned with disaster management, the number of people who were discovered to be injured in this brutal even crossed the number of 6000.
The Earthquake had hit the countries on Sunday, at 9:20 pm. Furthermore, the remote areas were still not examined and the authorities mentioned that those areas were also severely struck by this devastating Earthquake. Moreover, according to the Iranian Red Crescent Organization, over 70,000 people were affected by this boisterous earthquake and they were in need of shelter. Kermanshah, in Iran, is considered as the hardest hit province where the earthquake has caused the gravest number of damages. Three days of mourning was announced in this specific region where the citizens had lost their homes as well as their loved ones. Furthermore, over 236 people had also lost their lives in the town of Sarpol-e-Zahab. This town is located just 10 miles away from the Iraq border and rescue activities are still in continuation.
