The distinctive location of the island of the Philippines has made its food reachable to the people of diverse walks of life i.e. Farmers and fisherman. The cooking food is so simple and tasty in this country that it has made huge influenced on the trade that it has with different countries such as China, Spain and USA. Filipino food has sweet and delighting taste buds that have been following centuries-old customs and traditions of food cooking culture. The food cooked reflects the multi-cultured society of the Philippines. To name the few dishes, deep-fried lumpia rolls, sweet leche flan and you can also see Chinese and Spanish style of cooking and taste in an almost all the dishes. As per the local cultures of the Philippines, Filipinos tend to have meal 5 times in a particular day. First meal is early breakfast followed by snack at 10 a.m. after that, they have lunch and merienda at 4 pm. This allows people to have adequate energy to work until dinnertime comes. As far as urban centers are concerned, Filipinos put more emphasizes on dinner whereas, locals of poor and underprivileged areas consumed their largest food in the mid of the particular day.
Dining Etiquette: Whenever someone is offered an invitation to a private Filipino home for dinner, the first thing they do is to give compliments to host’s wife for the well-maintained, well-managed and well-organized house. They tend to give a bunch of chocolates and sweets to the hostess. You are supposed to bring a wrapped and properly kept gift keeping one thing in mind that Filipino would not open the gift until and unless guests have not left. You have to take a lead from your respected host as to where to sit and when to start serving with food stuff. You have to hold a spoon in your right hand which will be guided by the fork that must be placed on the left. Once you get done with your host’s hospitality, you have to come up with the handwritten note of appreciation and thanking note in order to give a sense of pleasure and proud to the host and her wife, hostess. One thing that has been witnessed in the Filipino families is the closeness and unity and coordination. These family lives play a vital role In the Filipino culture of the Philippines. If you can ever visit this country, you would certainly surprise to see the way the life together and remain connection with their old traditions and cultures.
This is the significant reason that makes other cultures of the different countries getting influenced by the cultures and way of living of Filipino.Most of the Filipino people tend to stay connected with their parents until and unless they get married and have children. There has been a case when three generations of the people love to life under the same roof and same house. But what appears to be the best thing is that elders in the family do not considered it a burden if Youngers live with them and share resources. These are the things which reflect healthy culture of Philippines where people are very connected and live peacefully.
